Welcome back to our magical journey through the history of The Walt Disney Company. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- November 6.
November 6th was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the release of a Disney Christmas film, the closure of a Disney’s Hollywood Studios attraction, and the end of a popular children’s animated series. So, let’s get started!
Sky Trooper Released (1942)
On this day in 1942, the Donald Duck cartoon Sky Trooper was released.
In the cartoon, Donald’s dream of flying comes true, however, he soon learns he will be jumping out of a plane as a paratrooper.
A Cowboy Needs a Horse Released (1956)
On this day in 1956, the Disney short A Cowboy Needs a Horse was released.
The cartoon tells the story of a young boy who dreams of being a cowboy.
Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse Released (2001)
On this day in 2001, Mickey’s Magical Christmas: Snowed in at the House of Mouse was released on home video.
The film was based on the popular animated Series House of Mouse and featured Mickey and his friends trying to keep their nightclub patrons entertained during a snowstorm.
Disney’s A Christmas Carol Opens in Theaters (2009)
On this day in 2009, Disney’s A Christmas Carol opened in theaters.
The computer-animated film was created using a motion capture technique similar to that used in Polar Express.
The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow Closes (2014)
On this day 2014, The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow closed.
The interactive walk-through attraction opened on December 6, 2012.
Jake and the Neverland Pirates Ends (2016)
Finally, on this day in 2016, the series final of Jake and the Never Land Pirates aired on Disney Junior.
The animated children’s series told the adventures of Jake, Izzy, Cubby, and their parrot Skully as they face off against Captain Hook and Mr. Smee in Neverland.
