New Earth Scrim Added To Luminous Barges at EPCOT
After what seems like an eternity of waiting, we are now less than a month away from the debut of EPCOT’s newest nighttime spectacular — Luminous: The Symphony of Us.
The nighttime performance will be the perfect way to close out your day at EPCOT, with fireworks, fountains, lasers, lighting effects, and music used to tell the story of our common humanity.
Luminous will be replacing EPCOT Forever, the temporary show that returned following the final performance of Harmonious on October 1, 2021.
Luminous Barges Update
Like any good EPCOT nighttime spectacular, Luminous will use barges located in the middle of World Showcase Lagoon to help tell its story.
Well, when visiting the park today, we noticed that four of the six planned barges for the upcoming show are now in place within the lagoon.
Unlike the Harmonius barges, the equipment used for Luminous will not need to be moored in the World Showcase Lagoon all day.
Instead, the barges can sail in and out of the lagoon, as the IllumiNations barges did for decades.
Interstingly, the barges are now covered in a screen wrap that seems to depict a satellite view of Earth.
The scrim looks like something that an EPCOT nighttime spectacular would use and also does a great job of covering up the equipment on the barges.
Here is another look at the barges — that is a TON of equipment.
It is interesting that the earth scrim only covers part of the barge.
The Nighttime Spectacular Debuts December 5
Disney describes Luminous as “a dramatic show designed to bring us all together. Marvel at a dazzling pageant of fireworks, fountains, music, and lights set to an original composition. New music, along with evocative selections from the Disney songbook, come together to remind us that we are more alike than we are different.”
I for one, can’t wait to see Luminous debut! The show will premiere on December 5.
