PHOTOS: Construction on Disney’s Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Has Begun!
Today may be Halloween, but Disney said ummm, we’re gonna celebrate the holiday season instead.
On a visit to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, we noticed a BIG addition to the lobby, a holiday tradition that delights guests every season. Let’s check it out!

Every holiday season, the Grand Floridian opens a life-size gingerbread house in the lobby, as well as a sweets shop featuring all kinds of holiday treats and drinks.
It takes around 1,050 pounds of honey to construct all the gingerbread for the house!
As of today (Halloween), the foundation for the gingerbread house is in progress.
If you visit the Grand Floridian, you can actually watch it slowly come to life!
The gingerbread house usually features a different interpretation of its Victorian look every year, which means you may see different colors, characters, or more from previous years.
It takes quite a bit of time for Cast Members to make all the preparations for the gingerbread house, so Disney typically begins construction earlier in the season.
The gingerbread house sweets shop usually opens in early to mid-November, so we’ll be watching closely for more announcements from Disney!
UPDATE: We returned to the Grand Floridian in the afternoon to find that they had placed tables in front of the gingerbread house — and added free samples!
These samples were small pieces of gingerbread, and we promise that they were just as delicious as they look.
Yum!
These samples will likely not stay out all the time, so your mileage may vary the next time you visit the Grand Floridian.
