A Sleepy Hollow Photo Op Has Arrived at the Magic Kingdom!
If you ask me what my favorite Disney Halloween film is, it isn’t The Nightmare Before Christmas or Hocus Pocus, it is The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow segment, that makes up one half of the feature, remains one of Disney’s best classic cartoons.
Sleepy Hollow has everything you could want from a Disney cartoon. The short is based on a classic story by Washington Irving, features an iconic character in the Headless Horseman, and is narrated by Bing Crosby! What more could anyone ask for!
As an unabashed Sleepy Hollow fan, I am glad to see that Disney hasn’t forgotten the film, and is dusting it off this Halloween.
Earlier, we reported on a new Sleepy Hollow mug that arrived at the Magic Kingdom, but now I think we may have something even better!
Spooky Sleepy Hollow Photo Op
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow photo-op has been installed just inside Tomorrowland for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party!
Ok, let’s start with the obvious, this photo op should be in Liberty Square. Nevertheless, I will take what I can get.
The photo op is set in the forest that Ichabod Crane must transverse on Halloween night.
Now, like Ichabod, guests to Walt Disney World can get their chance to escape from the Headless Horseman, as he hurls his pumpkin head towards them.
All in the Details
In addition to the always great Headless Horseman, this photo op has a couple of other really fun details.
The top right of the board reads “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow- Beware, Take Care, He Rides Alone!” This is a reference to the lyrics of the Headless Horseman song that Brom Bones sings in the cartoon.
Finally, I love that there is a small tribute to Washington Irving, who wrote The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
One of the tombstones on the front right feature Irving’s name and death years!
