In case you missed it, Hollywood is not very happy with Disney CEO Bob Iger.

In a recent interview, when asked about the WGA and the looming (at the time) SAG-AFTRA strikes, Iger said that the writers were being “unrealistic,” noting that the strikes were “disturbing” and “disruptive.” Now, during the third quarter earnings call, Iger has somewhat responded to his previous comments.
Bob Iger Wants to “Quickly Find Solutions”
During the interview with Squawk Box in July, Bob Iger had this to say about the strikes:
“It’s very disturbing to me. We’ve talked about disruptive forces on this business and all the challenges we’re facing, the recovery from COVID which is ongoing, it’s not completely back. This is the worst time in the world to add to that disruption.”

Naturally, Hollywood responded in anger, with SAG President Fran Drescher saying, “There he is, sitting in his designer clothes and just got on his private jet at the billionaire’s camp, telling us we’re unrealistic when he’s making $78,000 a day.”

During the Q3 earnings call, Iger responded to the strikes again, this time saying, “Nothing is more important to this company than its relationships with the creative community. I have a deep respect for all those who are vital to the creative engine. It is my fervent hope that we quickly find solutions.”
He added that he is “personally committed to working to achieve this result.”
