Haunted Mansion is Officially Closed For Refurbishment
We’ve got some bad news for Haunted Mansion fans.
In case you didn’t hear, we recently shared that the Haunted Mansion would close for a brief refurbishment, which is possibly due to the addition of a spooky character. While this closure is only for a few days, it may throw a wrench in your plans if you’re visiting Magic Kingdom this week!
Haunted Mansion Closed
The Haunted Mansion is now closed in Magic Kingdom from August 7th to the 9th. It’s currently scheduled to reopen on August 10th.

According to Disney, this closure is due to “routine refurbishment.”
Rides close for refurbishments of various lengths in Disney Parks for all kinds of reasons, ranging from regular maintenance to major updates, and a lot of Disney fans are theorizing that Haunted Mansion’s refurbishment is due to Hatbox Ghost construction.
With the first night of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on August 11th and Disney’s recent announcement that Hatbox Ghost would be added “sometime in 2023” plus the construction barriers recently observed on the ride, it’s totally possible that Hatbox Ghost will be grinning at us on August 10th.
However, that’s a great big if considering Disney hasn’t officially announced any dates, so we recommend taking this theory with a grain of salt.
We’ll be there at the gates of Haunted Mansion on August 10th, so make sure you check back with us to find out what or if anything has changed!
