‘The Acolyte’ Will Feature More Jedi Than Any Other Star Wars Film Or Show
The upcoming Disney+ series The Acolyte is set to take the franchise into the era of the High Republic, which ends approximately 100 years before The Phantom Menace.
The fan-favorite era will show the Jedi Order at the height of its power. The series will also stick to the traditional Star Wars formula of a small group of rebels, fighting against a much stronger oppressive force. While the original trilogy saw the Rebellion taken on the Empire, The Acolyte will follow the battle of the emerging Sith against the Jedi Order.

“I think Star Wars is always about some version of the underdog versus the institution. And I just thought it was very interesting to do a show about the bad guys,” said showrunner Leslye Headland. “It’s almost flipped. We have more Jedi than you’ve seen in any of the Star Wars content. But, at the same time, I think you see more morally ambiguous characters.”
The Sith Vs. The Jedi
While the idea of seeing the Jedi at the height of their power is exciting news for any Star Wars fan, this may not be the noble Jedi Order that fans have idealized.

“What makes this show different and interesting is it’s from the perspective of the bad guys or the villains of Star Wars,” Headland said. “These are people who are using the Force in their own way,. They are dipping into the darker sides of the Force. And they are doing it without being sanctioned by the larger institution which in this case is the Jedi.”

With the release of The Acolyte in 2024, Star Wars is getting ready to explore new territory. Whether or not fans will follow as the Jedi become the bad guys, however, remains to be seen.
