AUDITION: Disney Looking For College Program Musicians To Be Christmas Toy Soldiers
Disney has just put out an excellent audition call that is certain to be of interest to those currently enrolled in the Disney College Program! Now is your chance to be a part of the special Disney World holiday magic as a Toy Soldier in Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade!
Disney Parks Live Entertainment is looking for marching Trumpet and Percussion players for the traditional Toy Soldiers that appear in Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas Parade which is performed from November – December at Magic Kingdom. The deadline for online submissions is July 14, 2023 at 11:30pm.
At this time, Disney is only seeking Toy Soldier recruits that are currently participating in the Disney College Program. The cross-u opportunity is available to domestic College Program participants currently on a program (regular or extension) OR arriving at the program no later than August 25, 2023. Disney will not accept any performers interested in full-time, part-time, or seasonal work at this audition.
Walt Disney World ONLINE SUBMISSION: Student Musicians
Those interested in auditioning should note that the role involves wearing potentially heavy costumes some of which may have limited vision and range of motion. Those in costume may also experience hot and humid weather. Disney is looking for musicians between 5’8′ and 6′ in height that are proficient in trumpet or percussion, have previous marching experience, and have the ability to sight-read.
There is a two-step process to audition which is as follows:
STEP 1 – SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
- Please click “My_Profile” to create or update your performer profile.
- Please have two, one-minute selections prepared: lyrical and technical.
- Film yourself performing your two, one-minute selections – please make sure the video is in the landscape, and that you are center stage. Please ensure you have good lighting so we can see you clearly.
- Under the LINKS section, add the link to your video to a sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo – if using YouTube, please mark the video as “unlisted”.
STEP 2 – CHECK-IN INSTRUCTIONS
- Visit DisneyAuditions Check-In
- Select the audition: “Walt Disney World ONLINE SUBMISSIONS: Student Musicians.”
- Take your selfie to complete the submission process.
- You’re all set. There is no need to submit more than once.
Again, submissions will be accepted through July 14, 2023. Candidates will be contacted by Talent Casting if picked to move on to the next round. Participants will be contacted no later than July 28, 2023. Guests selected to attend the callback will be required to bring their own mouthpiece.
Additional requirements for the role include:
- Guests must be 18 or older and authorized to work in the US.
- Must be a domestic College Program participant currently on a program or arrive no later than August 25, 2023. In addition, the participant must have a departure date after January 4, 2024, and cannot exceed 12 consecutive months in the Disney program.
- Applicants must be available through July 4, 2024, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Must be willing to work every day during the 10-12 day Christmas period without a day off.
- Must meet transfer guidelines.
