June 12th saw the opening of a Disneyland classic, the premiere of a fan-favorite animated film, and the debut of a new nighttime spectacular. So, let’s get going!
Donald’s Garden Released (1942)
On this day in 1942, the Donald Duck short Donald’s Garden was released.

In the cartoon, Donald has to contend with a gopher who wants to eat his watermelons!
Monsanto House of the Future Opens (1957)
On this day in 1957, the Monsanto House of the Future opened in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland.

The walk-through attraction gave visitors a glimpse of living in the future.
Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln Returns (1975)
On this day in 1975, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln returned to Disneyland.

The show was temporarily replaced with The Walt Disney Story in 1973.
New Theater of the Stars Opens (1994)
On this day in 1994, the relocated Theater of the Stars opened on Sunset Boulevard at the Disney-MGM Studios.

The new theater was built to house Beauty and the Beast- Live on Stage, which had been running since 1991.
Tarzan Gets US Premiere (1999)
On this day in 1999, Disney’s Tarzan premiered at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood.
The film would be generally released on June 18.
Magical: Disney’s New Nighttime Spectacular of Magical Celebrations Debuts (2009)
On this day in 2009, Magical: Disney’s New Nighttime Spectacular of Magical Celebrations debuted at Disneyland.

The show used music, dialogue, fireworks, pyrotechnics and projections to tell its story.
Captain EO Returns (2010)
On this day in 2010, Captain EO returned to Disneyland Paris.

Brought back as a tribute to Michael Jackson, the show had previously been replaced by Honey, I Shrunk the Audience.
Artemis Fowl Released (2020)
Finally, on this day in 2020, Artemis Fowl was released on Disney+.

Based on the 2001 novel of the same name, the movie tells the story of Artemis Fowl, a 12-year-old genius, who searches for her father who had mysteriously disappeared. Along the way, she comes into conflict with the hidden world of fairies.
