May 3rd was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the release of a Mickey cartoon, the debut of a forgotten animated series, and a Walt Disney World milestone. So, let’s get going!
When The Cat’s Away Released (1929)
On this day in 1929, the Mickey Mouse cartoon When the Cat’s Away was released.
The cartoon featured Mickey and Minnie as the size of actual mice!
The Moose Hunt Released (1931)
On this day in 1931, the Mickey Mouse cartoon The Moose Hunt was released.
In the cartoon, Pluto says “Kiss me”, one of the only two times he ever spoke.
Disney Announces Cruise Line Plans (1994)
On this day in 1994, Disney announced its plan to create a cruise line.
The Disney Cruise Line would eventually launch on May 3, 1995.
West Coast Disney Cruises Announced (2004)
On this day in 2004, the Associated Press announced that the Disney Cruise Line would begin offering cruises from the West Coast in 2005, as part of Disneyland’s 50th anniversary.
Disney previously only offered East Coast cruises.
Milestone For the Magical Express (2010)
On this day in 2010, Disney’s Magical Express welcomed its 10,000,000th guests.
The shuttle service between Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World began in 2005.
Iron Man 3 Released (2013)
On this day in 2013, Iron Man 3 was released.
The film saw Tony Stark avenging an attack on his home by the Mandarin.
