Welcome back to our continuing journey through the history of the Walt Disney Company. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- April 25.
April 25th was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured the release of a Mickey Mouse cartoon, a honor for Michael Eisner, and the beginning of The Avengers. So, let’s get started.
Wild Waves Released (1930)
On this day in 1930, the Mickey Mouse cartoon Wild Waves was released.
The classic cartoon features Mickey mouse as a lifeguard who saves Minnie from drowning.
Let’s Stick Together Released (1952)
On this day in 1952, the Donald Duck cartoon Let’s Stick Together was released.
The cartoon was memorable for being the last appearance of Spike (aka Buzz-Buzz) the bee.
Project Tomorrow Opens (2007)
On this day in 2007, Project Tomorrow: Inventing the Wonders of the Future opened at EPCOT.
The new Spaceship Earth post show featured a series of interactive exhibits that explored medicine, technology and energy management.
Michael Eisner Receives A Star On The Hollywood Walk of Fame (2008)
On this day in 2008 Michael Eisner was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The former Disney CEO was honored for his contributions to the motion picture industry.
Production Begins on The Avengers (2011)
Finally, on this day in 2011, principal photograph on The Avengers began in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The film brought together Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Hulk, Black Widow and Captain America for the first time. It would open in 2012.
