Zootopia Characters Added to the Animation Experience
Zootopia is officially coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, although perhaps not in the way that many fans expected.
While there is still no news on Disney’s Blue Sky Zootopia concept, the company announced that the characters from the Zootopia series would be coming to the Animation Experience at Conservation Station.
What is The Animation Experience?
The Animation Experience opened on Rafiki’s Planet Watch in July of 2019. Inside the attraction, guests attend a 25 minute session where they learn to draw various Disney characters.
The classes inside the Animation Experience begin with a short lecture on how real life animals serve as the inspiration for many of Disney’s most famous characters. Guests are then instructed on how to draw a famous character. The drawings are great souvenirs!
In many ways The Animation Experience is the spiritual successor to the Magic of Disney Animation attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios from 2004 until 2015.
Zootopia Added to The Attraction
In celebration of the series premiere of Zootopia + on Disney Plus, The Animation Experience now teaches guests to draw characters from the Zootopia film.
Now when guests enter the Animation Experience, they get to hear from Trent Corey and Josie Trinidad, the Directors of Zootopia+. The duo explain how Disney’s Animal Kingdom helped inspire filmmakers when they were working on the original Zootopia film.
A special treat for Disney fans, there is also now a behind-the-scenes look at footage from research trips that the filmmakers took to the park.
Finally, guests then get to learn how to draw either Judy, Nick, or Flash from a professional artist!
Next time your in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, be sure to hop aboard the Wildlife Express, and head over to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. The Zootopia characters will be a part of the Animation Experience for a limited time, so don’t miss this opportunity!
