Fire Erupts During Last Night’s Fantasmic! Performance at Disneyland
Yesterday evening, during Disneyland’s evening Fantasmic! show, guests got a grand finale they weren’t expecting. A fire that appears to have started due to a malfunction of the Maleficent-themed fire-breathing dragon (nicknamed Murphy) quickly spread to Tom Sawyer island according to reports coming in this morning.
You can check out a video shared by ABC7 in Los Angeles below:
The video above shows that fire can be seen throughout the park. ABC7 spoke to Anaheim Fire Department who said that no injuries were reported. The following tweet was also shared online and shows the moment that a flame-shooting dragon used in Fantasmic! seemingly caught fire due to a malfunction.

We also saw another tweet posted by a Disneyland visitor that shows the moments leading up to the fire during last night’s Fantasmic! performance.

The Fantasmic! performance was immediately canceled as a result of the incident and flames could be seen spreading to additional areas of Tom Sawyer Island. This is news we’re waking up to early on this Sunday morning. This means that as of yet, we aren’t aware of the extent of the damage nor do we know what sort of impact this will have on performances of Fantasmic! going forward or to Tom Sawyer Island.
We hope that all those involved in last night’s production are safe and unharmed and they will be in our thoughts. This is a story that we will continue to follow closely and we promise to keep you posted.
