Reopening Date Revealed for Disneyland’s Matterhorn Bobsleds!
One of Disneyland’s most popular rides recently closed for refurbishment, but good news. We’ve got Matterhorn Bobsleds’ reopening date!
Matterhorn Bobsleds
Located in Fantasyland, Matterhorn Bobsleds is a beloved fixture of Disney’s Southern California Theme Parks! Opening a few years after Disneyland’s debut (1955), in 1959, it’s a thrilling but bumpy ride!

Its inspiration actually stems from a movie. Walt Disney came to appreciate the real Matterhorn during the filming of “Third Man on the Mountain.”
Did you know that Matterhorn Bobsleds is Disneyland’s first roller coaster? It’s also the first tubular steel coaster to ever debut globally!

Seasoned Park goers hold the belief that one side of the ride offers a less jerky experience than the other, but having ridden it for many years, I’d say they’re both pretty severe! That being said, the twists and turns are worth it, especially at night!
Inside, the Abominable Snowman awaits your arrival! Having been given a refresh over the years, he’s even more fun to experience today!

It’s a truly unique and iconic attraction. In fact, Disneyland is the only Park with a Matterhorn Bobsleds ride!
Closure
Sadly, Guests visiting Disneyland Park are currently unable to enjoy this classic attraction, as it’s closed. Refurbishment began a few days ago on April 17, 2023.

Reopening
On a lighter note, it will only be down for less than 2 months! Disneyland’s official website reveals that Matterhorn Bobsleds will reopen on June 2, 2023!
