Walt Disney World Expects At Least One Annual Pass Will Sell Out Today
In case you didn’t hear, Walt Disney World Annual Passes went on sale this morning. For the first time in 18 months, Disney fans have the ability to purchase new passes in all four of the Walt Disney World tiers.
The process was scheduled to start at 6AM ET but ended up kicking off at 6:47.
A Rocky Start
Demand has proven to be high for new Annual Passes, with some guests waiting in a virtual queue for up to six hours in order to procure their coveted tickets.
In fact, the demand was so high, that at 8AM ET Disney’s servers seemed to crash. This led new Annual Pass sales to be paused. Those in the online queue received a message alerting them of the pause.
Disney Expects A Sell Out
At 9:08AM ET, sales resumed and it was off to the races. While so far no passes have sold out, at approximately 2:28PM ET, Disney posted another update.
This update warned guests that due to the “high popularity” of Annual Passes, Walt Disney World “anticipates a pass or select passes may become unavailable for purchase later today”. Here is the full update:
As of right now, all passes remain available, so if you are in the queue stay in line! Guests have also reported shorter wait times when calling Disney, as opposed to purchasing passes online.
