Tips and Tricks for Picking Your Perfect Disney Theme Park Halloween Costume
Today we are pulling out all of the stops in our Halfway to Halloween Celebration. We’ve got the dates for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World, Boo-Bash at Disneyland as well as Halloween on the High Seas sailings with Disney Cruise Line! If you’re planning to spend Halloween with Disney then chances are you’re already thinking – COSTUME! With that in mind, we have some helpful tips and tricks to assist with your wardrobe planning!

Theme Park Costume Guidelines
Before splashing out on those costumes for your special Disney soiree, be sure to familiarize yourselves with Disney’s costume guidelines! For instance, costume masks may not be worn by guests 14 years of age and older. This rule applies at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
This policy differs a bit for those celebrating Halloween on the West Coast. You can get up to speed on costume guidelines for your preferred destination by following these links Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.

Be Prepared For The Weather
Bear in mind, especially when planning costumes for tiny tots that it can still be super hot at Disney in October. Also, be prepared for inclement weather! Whether you’re hitting the theme parks or sailing the ocean blue, flexibility is key when it comes to your Halloween get-ups. Keep costumes on the light side! Soft, breathable fabrics are a plus and keep a backup in case Mother Nature has Halloween plans!

You Don’t Need to Spend Big To Get That Perfect Disney Halloween Look!
Planning the perfect Disney Halloween look doesn’t need to break the bank. With a little creativity, you can even find items around the house or in your wardrobe that you can use! Minnie Mouse ears and a polka dot dress and suddenly you’re Minnie! Celebrating Halloween with an infant!? A comfy onesie with a Disney theme is all it takes. Remember costumes are optional so how much time and effort you put into your Disney Halloween look is up to you.

It’s All About the Accessories
Along the same lines, a simple accessory can go a long way when it comes to planning your perfect look! A simple t-shirt with some fairy wings and you can be Tinker Bell or Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather! A pirate hat and a striped t-shirt and you’re ready to become a member of Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Crew!

Mix It Up With More Than One Costume
Especially when visiting the parks with tiny tots, you may want to pack more than one Halloween costume. Outfits that look perfect may become uncomfortable or get messy fast (Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars anyone!?)

Embody Your Favorite Disney Character
In Disney circles, we call dressing up like your favorite Disney character Disneybounding! Stuck for costume ideas? Draw some inspiration from your favorite Disney friends. Wear blue, yellow, and white, and suddenly you’re Disney bounding as Donald Duck! It’s that easy! If you can’t come up with ideas don’t worry, a simple Disney-themed t-shirt will do!

Strike a Pose
Get camera ready because whether you’re at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, or on a Halloween on the High Seas sailing, there will be ample photo ops! At the parks, PhotoPass photographers will be on hand to capture your magical Halloween Moments including fun seasonal props and Magic Shots!
