Ron DeSantis Set To Announce Next Move In Battle With Disney
In yet another chapter of a story that will never end, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is expected to announce his latest measures against the Walt Disney Company today.
The latest announcement comes on the heels of the revelation that Disney and Reedy Creek entered into binding agreements giving Disney control over the land in and around Walt Disney World in perpetuity, despite the fact that Reedy Creek was set to be dissolved just days later.
Disney’s Legal Maneuvering
The legally binding agreement undercuts the new Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, which is controlled by the State of Florida.
While DeSantis has claimed that Disney’s agreements were illegal, Disney has refuted those statements.
“All agreements signed between Disney and the district were appropriate and were discussed and approved in open, noticed public forums in compliance with Florida’s Government in the Sunshine law,” Disney said in a statement earlier this month.
DeSantis’ Next Move
In response to Disney’s legal maneuvering, DeSantis has vowed to retaliate.
“What they tried to do is an embarrassment,” a senior administration source told The New York Post. “The narrative the left is spinning is that Gov. DeSantis was outmaneuvered. But this is far from over, and he’s going to have the last laugh.”
According to insiders, Disney’s monorail and transportation systems could be DeSantis’s target.
The Walt Disney World transportation and its rides have long been exempt from external inspections. DeSantis could look to change that.
