Walt Disney World Wait Times for Spring Break Week II 2023
The last time we examined wait times, everything soared due to the effects of Spring Break 2023.
You may believe that the worst is over…but no! Orlando International Airport announced that Saturday, March 25th, would break traffic records.
In other words, this past week might have been even worse than the previous one. That’s because Spring Break varies by the school system.
So, how were the Walt Disney World wait times for Spring Break Week II 2023? Let’s check!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Let me describe this week’s park traffic differently. I’m a member of the Disney Vacation Club.
Each year, Disney posts a DVC Points calendar that shows the least expensive and most expensive times of the year to visit.
Disney charges fewer DVC Points when it expects smaller crowds. Conversely, the points chart surges during more popular timeframes.
For calendar 2023, DVC charges the most DVC Points for Christmas Week…and March 24th through March 31st. So, yeah. We’re really in it right now.
How did that level of traffic impact Animal Kingdom? Here are the average wait times for the past week:
- Avatar Flight of Passage – 100 minutes, down 140 minutes (!)
- Na’vi River Journey – 85 minutes, down 2
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 48 minutes, down 22
- Adventurers Outpost – 46 minutes, down 1
- Expedition Everest – 40 minutes, down 20
- Kali River Rapids – 33 minutes, up 1
- DINOSAUR – 29 minutes, down 13
- TriceraTop Spin – 15 minutes, down 5
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 15 minutes, no change
Okay, that…was a surprise. These early results reflect that Disney was substantially less crowded this past week, especially on Saturday, March 25th.
Overall, Animal Kingdom guests waited for an average of 46 minutes per attraction, which is 12 minutes less than last time.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
I usually check the traffic at Hollywood Studios with a simple litmus test. How many attractions required average waits of 60+ minutes?
Ordinarily, a total of seven attractions indicates that the park was mobbed during a given week.
Currently, the number has dropped to six because Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is undergoing refurbishment. And that’s how many attractions qualified this past week!
Yes, here are the average waits at Hollywood Studios for the past week:
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – 126 minutes, down 7
- Slinky Dog Dash – 116 minutes, down 20
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 88 minutes, down 11
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 78 minutes, down 7
- Toy Story Mania! – 75 minutes, down 7
- Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 61 minutes, down 36
- Alien Swirling Saucers – 45 minutes, down 5
- Red Carpet Dreams – 42 minutes, down 3
- Meet Sulley at Walt Disney Presents – 37 minutes, down 5
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue – 28 minutes, down 14
- Celebrity Spotlight – 26 minutes, down 2
- Muppet*Vision 3D – 15 minutes, up 3
- Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – 13 minutes, up 2
Overall, guests waited for an average of 54 minutes per attraction. That’s eight minutes less than last time. Color me surprised.
EPCOT
Okay, we’re getting a clear picture of Walt Disney World this past week.
Apparently, everyone was at the airport on Saturday, and that has caused some surprising data. One slow day drags down the seven-day total!
Here are EPCOT’s average wait times:
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure – 84 minutes, down 23
- Frozen Ever After – 83 minutes, down 7
- Test Track – 69 minutes, down 16
- Soarin’ Around the World – 49 minutes, down 16
- Royal Sommerhus – 35 minutes, down 8
- Mission: SPACE – 24 minutes, down 21
- Spaceship Earth – 23 minutes, down 10
- Turtle Talk with Crush – 20 minutes, down 5
- Journey into Imagination with Figment – 19 minutes, no change
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends – 18 minutes, down 5
- Living with the Land – 17 minutes, down 1
- Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 16 minutes, down 1
Overall, EPCOT attractions fell significantly week-over-week. The average wait was “only” 38 minutes, which is 10 minutes less than last time.
Again, that’s still a way larger average wait than usual, but it reflects a slower Spring Break week overall.
Magic Kingdom
We only have one more park to track, but the trend looks clear.
Here are the average waits at Magic Kingdom:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – 104 minutes, down 10
- Peter Pan’s Flight – 86 minutes, down 1
- Space Mountain – 71 minutes, down 14
- Jungle Cruise – 67 minutes, down 7
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin – 56 minutes, up 2
- Haunted Mansion – 55 minutes, down 4
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad – 52 minutes, down 10
- Pirates of the Caribbean – 49 minutes, down 1
- Ariel’s Grotto – 45 minutes, no change
- Astro Orbiter – 44 minutes, down 5
- Princess Fairytale Hall – 43 minutes, no change
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh – 42 minutes, down 2
- Town Square Theater – 42 minutes, no change
- It’s a Small World – 41 minutes, no change
- Pete’s Silly Sideshow – 40 minutes, up 2
- The Barnstormer – 35 minutes, down 2
- Magic Carpets of Aladdin – 35 minutes, down 1
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant – 34 minutes, down 6
- Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid – 34 minutes, down 2
- Tomorrowland Speedway – 32 minutes, down 3
- Enchanted Tales with Belle – 31 minutes, down 3
- Mad Tea Party – 24 minutes, down 3
- Walt Disney World Railroad – 22 minutes, down 8
- Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover – 22 minutes, no change
- Walt Disney’s PhilharMagic – 20 minutes, up 1
- Prince Charming Carrousel – 19 minutes, no change
- Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor – 18 minutes, down 3
- Country Bear Jamboree – 5 minutes, no change
- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – 5 minutes, no change
The average wait for Magic Kingdom attractions was 39 minutes, which is three minutes less than last time.
Overall, Walt Disney World guests stood in line for eight fewer minutes during the second of Spring Break than the first one.
So, those DVC Points charts guessed wrong! We’ll see next week whether a new influx of guests turns Spring Break Week III into a more crowded time.
If not, March really wasn’t that bad overall in terms of wait times.
