Bye-bye Barges! New Digital Maps, Sold Out Parks Surprise Spring Breakers
With Spring Break visitors pushing theme parks to their max this week, Walt Disney World Resort also prepares from some huge changes with the much-anticipated official opening of Tron Light Cycle/Run and the end of the 50th anniversary celebration, “Disney Enchantment,” and “Harmonious.”
Already, park reservations for much of this week and next have disappeared. The sold-out status mainly impacts Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Early in the week though, even Disney’s Animal Kingdom has run out of available park reservations.
Those visiting Magic Kingdom tomorrow will want to be prepared for heavy crowds on Main Street U.S.A. Tomorrow, thousands will wait for hours for the much-anticipated return of the popular fireworks spectacular, “Happily Ever After.”
New Digital Maps Erase 50th Details, ‘Harmonious’ Barges
With the end of “the World’s Most Magical Celebration” on Friday, Walt Disney World ushered in a new anniversary: Disney100. The festivites now honor the Walt Disney Company’s centennial. Visitors this week can expect a range of changes, including the return of EPCOT’s heartwarming fireworks display, “EPCOT Forever.”
New digital maps began to appear in the MyDisneyExperience app Friday with some notable changes. For many, the elimination of the enormous barges required at EPCOT for the water effects and projections that defined “Harmonious” brought a sigh of relief.
Replacing “Harmonious,” the park will celebrate its legacy beginning tomorrow night with the return of “EPCOT Forever,” a whimsical show celebrating the songs and attractions both of the theme park’s past and present.
The map also unveiled new walkways that continue to emerge at the front of EPCOT. Construction there continues to rapidly moving toward completion at both “Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana” and the CommuniCore Hall building.
Over at Magic Kingdom, the updated map images show the removal of all of the 50th anniversary adorations to Cinderella Castle, a sign of things to come in the near future.
Of course, MickeyBlog will continue to bring you all of the updates as Walt Disney World Resort emerges from such an epic celebration and begins its next chapter.
