Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez Talk ‘Frozen 3’
The news of a possible Frozen 3 has been gaining traction this Spring after Bob Iger hinted that the film is very much still a priority during The Walt Disney Company’s first earnings call of 2023. However, funnily enough this was news to those involved in previous productions including songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez
The beloved Disney duo recently did an interview with Collider to discuss their new Hulu musical comedy series Up Here when they were asked about a possible third film for Anna, Elsa, Olaf and the rest of the gang.
Kristen and Robert said that Iger’s Frozen 3 announcement did come as a surprise. They went on to say that they were actually told about the third film the day of Iger’s announcement and they said they were excited at the prospect of returning to Disney. During the Collider interview Kristen said, “They told us a little bit of what they (Disney) were thinking.” She continued, “Now we have to let the wheels of Hollywood do what they do!”
In other words, it’s early days for the project.

It’s not just Kristen and Robert that are excited at the prospect of another Frozen film. Josh Gad, who voices the role of Olaf shared the tweet above when Iger’s Frozen announcement was made!
What remains to be seen is if Jennifer Lee will be returning to direct for Frozen 3. After the sequel came out, Lee was vocal in the press that she felt “very done.” However, she did add, “Time will tell if we have more story to tell, or if anyone wants it.”
With the creatives leaving the door open for a third Frozen film and Iger obviously on board for it, we suspect that we’ll start to hear additional details in the months ahead.
