Construction Update: Splash Mountain Sans Water and Theming
Big changes are afoot over at Splash Mountain in the Magic Kingdom. Our MickeyBlogger popped over to Frontierland yesterday to share a look at the transition happening as the ride gets repurposed as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
As we previously mentioned here at MickeyBlog, all of the water has been drained from the attraction.
Tarps cover the lower part of the canals used for the flume ride.
You can see a portion of the track covered above.
You’ll also notice scaffolding throughout the attraction.
Disney has yet to give an official opening date for the Princess and the Frog-themed ride but we do expect it to open at some point in 2024.
The lovely view of the mountain is now obstructed with large scaffolding towers.
A crane was also in place during our visit, lifting additional scaffolding.
For those visiting the park, you will find high construction walls surround the Frontierland attraction.
As a bit of Disney foreshadowing, the construction walls feature Tiana themed signage!
We can’t wait to see the transition actually take place at Splash Mountain during the months ahead.
Once completed, guests will be immersed in a Southern atmosphere taking you into the bayou where you’ll encounter many of your favorite characters from The Princess and the Frog.
Disney previously revealed that many of the voice actors from the original production will be reprising their roles for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
New Orleans, which was a huge part of the Princess and the Frog film will also feature heavily in the ride.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad as well as other attractions in Frontierland will remain open throughout this transition.
Our MickeyBlogger also noticed that the pressed penny machine is still in the vicinity!
