This Day in Disney History- March 7
Welcome back to our continuing journey through Disney’s magical past. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- March 7.
March 7th was a slower day in Disney history. However, the day still featured the release of a Mickey cartoon, an honor for a Disney Legend, and the debut of a the first trackless attraction in Disney California Adventure! So, let’s get started!
Mickey’s Grand Opera Released (1936)
On this day in 1936, the Mickey Mouse short Mickey’s Grand Opera debuted.
Directed by Wildred Jackson, the short featured Mickey conducting an opera starring Donald Duck, Clara Duck and eventually even Pluto.
The Golden Egg Released (1941)
On this day in 1941, the Donald Duck cartoon The Golden Egg was released.
When Donald has a hard time harvesting eggs from a hen-house, he goes undercover as a hen himself.
Michael Eisner is Born (1942)
On this day in 1942, Michael Eisner was born.
Eisner would become CEO of the Disney company in 1984, and continue to be in charge until 2005.
Jungle 2 Jungle Released (1997)
On this day in 1997, Jungle 2 Jungle was released.
The film starred Tim Allen as Michel Cromwell, a self-absorbed commodities broker who learns he has a thirteen-year-old son named Mimi-Siku who was raised in the jungle.
Bob Gurr Gets A Window On Main Street (2008)
On this day in 2008, Bob Gurr received a window on Disneyland’s Main Street USA.
Over his storied career, Gurr designed some of Disney’s most iconic ride vehicles including the Main Street Vehicles, Monorail, and Autopia cars.
Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters Released (2016)
On this day in 2016, Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters opened to guests.
The trackless attraction allows guests to move, spin, and “dance” in their cars to Italian music.
