Five Ways To Experience The Wonder of Play at Disney’s Theme Parks
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog then you’ll know that Disney is getting ready to celebrate the Wonder of Play during the month of March. We’ve already shared some ways that you can celebrate with toys at home and now we turn our attention to ways that you can celebrate at the theme parks!
Here are five wonderful ways to enjoy the Wonders of Play at Disney theme parks around the globe!
New Ways to Play at Mickey’s Toontown, opening March 19 at Disneyland Park
We are just weeks away from the reopening of Mickey’s Toontown. With the reopening on March 19, 2023 comes some exciting changes! There are fun new ways to play in the neighborhood where Mickey and friends reside. A great starting point is Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard. This area features a whimsical sound garden where kids can discover new ways to make some noise. There’s also an all new elevated clubhouse.
Step inside Goofy’s House where junior candymakers can turn drips of honey from a beehive into a rainbow assortment of candies! Then its over to Donald’s Duck Point where kids can make a splash with larger-than-life spinning water lilies, balance beams, rocking toys and more! You’ll also want to pop by CenTOOnial Park which is a new green space featuring two interactive experiences. There is a fountain featuring water tables that invite an encourage play. There’s also a nearby dreaming tree where kids are encouraged to crawl and explore.

We also need to pay lip service to both Mickey and Minnie’s houses. Guests will once again be able to pay house calls to both characters. Wander around their houses and check out the special surprises and ways to play in every room! Sometimes you may even find that Mickey and Minnie are in residence which adds some extra magic to the experience.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway in Toontown
And of course, the icing on the cake of your Toontown visit is sure to be the new Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction at the El CapiTOON Theater. Get ready for this crazy, zany, out-of-control adventure brimming with surprises, twists and turns.
We’ll wind down our Wonder of Play tour of Toontown in Disneyland with a stop at Chip ‘n’ Dales GADGETcoaster. According to the backstory, Gadget Hackwrench has created a special one-of-a-kind, fun-sized coaster! Then it’s over to Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. The classic attraction is back so get ready to board Lenny the Cab and spin out through the streets of Toontown with your pal Roger Rabbit!
Earn Your Wilderness Explorer at Walt Disney World Resort
Get ready to experience the Wonders of Play at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Just like Russell from Pixar’s beloved film UP, kids can learn and play during a set of nature-themed challenges. During your adventures your collect badges. Earn enough and you’ll become an official Wilderness Explorer!
Ariel’s Playground and Goofy’s Paint ‘n’ Play House at Tokyo Disney Resort
I’ve been known to get a bit jealous that Tokyo Disney Resort always seems to have the coolest stuff. Here’s a great example. For kids that need to let off some steam during a visit to Disney, you can flip your fins over to Ariel’s Playground. Climb through a fishing net, look for hidden treasure and more!
Tokyo Disney is also home to Goofy’s Paint ‘n’ Play House! You can help Goofy redecorate his home with a little help from the Toontone Splat Master paint applicators! You can transform the walls and furniture easily, making this the perfect Wonder of Play activity for families.
Sit Back and Enjoy the Storybook Playroom at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort
Stories come to life at the Storybook Playroom at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. Here kids can enjoy enchanting activities, games, crafts, toys and more. This space was designed to encourage creativity, good times and lots of laughter. At the end of the day, Storybook Playroom is also home to a miniature theater where you can enjoy screenings of classic Disney films.
Explore the Worlds of Pixar at Disneyland Paris
Your favorite Pixar stories come to life at Disneyland Paris. Visitors can explore this incredible land which features attractions, restaurants, character meet and greets and more. From the moment you walk into Worlds of Pixar, you’ll encounter some of your favorite characters from Buzz and Woody to Remy!
Highlights of the Worlds of Pixar includes the Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin. This attraction takes the whole family for a ride on the back of Andy’s beloved Slinky Dog from Toy Story as he humorously tries to catch his tail.
