Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster Now Closed for Lengthy Refurb
It looks like we won’t be rockin’ or rollin’ at Walt Disney World for a while, as a fan-favorite coaster attraction has just closed for a lengthy refurbishment over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
Here’s what we know right now!
Yup, we are of course talking about Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster (Starring Aerosmith), which has been on Disney’s refurb schedule for a while now.
Now, the day has arrived for those stretch limos to screech to a halt for the time being, as the ride undergoes its necessary checks and refreshes to get it back up-to-speed by summer!
Although we’ve known about this plan for a few months, however, it’s still a shame to see these new A-frame boards pop up around the coaster’s home on the corner of Sunset Boulevard!
With the attraction’s iconic logo printed on the top, new signage is now out to alert guests that the ride “is not operational at this time,” with arrows directing guests past the area to access Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy further along the route.
It’s also very strange to see the queue area so empty, especially seeing as Rock ‘N’ Roller is usually such a smash hit of an attraction at the Studios!
However, we’re thrilled to say that the area isn’t totally deserted, with Cast Members currently out making the best of the space in the most entertaining way possible. As you can see from our photos, there’s games, hula hoops, and even a clap box spread out along the sidewalk for guests to amuse themselves with!
What’s a clap-box, you ask? Well, you can see it in the photo below. Go stand in it, and you’ll find out!
Although Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster is predicted to be closed now until summer, we’ve been seeing quite the influx of ride-inspired merchandise speeding its way into the park recently.
The haul includes this funky Loungefly backpack, a mug, new tops, and other fun accessories, so guests will still be able to kit themselves out in honor of the ride, even though we can’t actually ride it at this moment in time!
If you’re planning a trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios over the coming months, we’d advise you to be aware that this closure of such a favorite attraction will likely cause lines to be longer for other rides and experiences around the park. Especially as we approach the busy spring break season, wait times are predicted to rise quite dramatically across the Walt Disney World Resort.
This President’s Day Weekend saw exceptionally large crowds right across the resort, with even the Genie+ service unexpectedly selling out for two consecutive days at the parks.
As always, be sure to stay tuned to MickeyBlog.com for all the latest news, updates, tips, and tricks to help you make the most out of your visit.
In the meantime, we’ll be excitedly waiting for Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster to speed back into operations this summer!
