Disney’s ‘Encanto’ Wins Big at Last Night’s GRAMMY Awards
Hurray for the Family Madrigal! It was a big night for Disney’s beloved film Encanto at the GRAMMY Awards last night! The film won all three categories that it was nominated for. This included best song for visual media, best score soundtrack and best compilation soundtrack.

As Variety tells us, this is the first time that a film has swept all three visual media categories since the compellation soundtrack category was added back in 1999.

Lin-Manuel Miranda took home the GRAMMY for viral hit “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” which rose to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Charts in early 2022. The song beat out many of the the music industries most popular artists including Beyonce (“Be Alive”), Taylor Swift (“Carolina”), Lady Gaga (“Hold My Hand,” a current Oscar nominee), Billie Eilish (“Nobody Like U”) and Jessy Wilson (“Keep Rising”). Miranda was not in attendance at the event.

Germaine Franco, who was also nominated for an Academy Award for the Colombian-flavored music composed for Disney’s Encanto was on hand yesterday to receive the Grammy for best score soundtrack. Franco is the first woman of color to win the award!
Producer Mike Elizondo and Disney Exec Tom MacDougall where also on hand to accept the award for best compilation soundtrack which included songs from Encanto– the album, which as Variety tells us has sold an impressive 6 million copies worldwide. It beat out other noteworthy releases including “West Side Story” and the 2022 albums from “Elvis,” “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Stranger Things” season 4.
