Details Emerge for Disney’s Next Animated Film
With Onward, Luca and Raya and the Last Dragon all big draws during quarantine, the obvious question is when Disney Animation Studios are going to dazzle us again with a feature film.
Well we may have an answer (sort of.) According to a piece that was recently published in Discussing Film, Disney has brought Don Hall on board to direct the next picture.
Don Hall already has a handful of awesome Disney films under his belt including Winnie the Pooh, Big Hero 6 and more recently Moana.
In addition Hall served as the director for Raya and the Last Dragon.
So what do we know about Hall’s next project? Unfortunately details are scare at the moment but we can tell you that Hall will team up once again with Qui Nguyen (Raya and the Last Dragon) will be writing the screenplay.
We can also report that Jennifer Lee who directed Frozen II and is now Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios is on board to serve as executive producer along with Roy Conlie (Tangled.) As you can see, Disney has definitely assembled some of its heavy hitters for the project.
At the moment Disney has reserved November 23, 2022 as the release date meaning the Studio is banking on it being their big Thanksgiving Weekend opener.

In a piece that appeared on FullCircle.com we also know that the film will follow Ethan, a biracial teenager. He has the tendency to be a bit of a know-it-all even though he’s not particular tough. This information comes from a current Disney casting call which is looking for a voice actor that is able to display a funny, likable sound and is not afraid to show an emotional side.
However, previewing before the new feature mentioned above is Encanto which is a tale set in Columbia and featuring original songs by Hamilton’s Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Encanto is slated to be released on November 24, 2021.
