PHOTOS: First Look at Riding TRON Lightcycle / Run in Disney World!
IT’S FINALLY TIME TO RIDE TRON!!
TRON Lightcycle / Run is scheduled to open to the public on April 4th, 2023, and currently, select Cast Members are able to preview TRON. One of our MickeyBlog team members was eligible to snag a reservation on February 5th so come along with us as we ride TRON for the very first time!
Ride Queue
Walking toward the queue was pretty breathtaking with all the lights.
Before you enter the queue, there are test vehicles you can try out. This can help you decide whether the vehicles work for you.
There are also signs explaining restrictions.
Most of the queue is located indoors, while the ride experience itself is mostly outdoors (under cover).
In fact, TRON can continue to operate even in the rain, with the exception of lightning and/or high winds.
The ride height requirement is 48 inches, so keep that in mind.
The ride queue is full of all kinds of fun digital details and lighting, and there is a short pre-show before getting to the vehicle boarding area.
Let’s go over an important detail about riding TRON!
Lockers
Disney previously shared that TRON will offer free digitized lockers to store personal items. These lockers can be accessed using your ticket or MagicBand (or via a card if you have neither of those).
Smaller items can be stored on the ride vehicle in a compartment.
The locker area is located inside the queue. We stored our things and off we went!
Ride Vehicles
The ride vehicles are known as light cycles, and boarding one isn’t unlike getting on a motorcycle. It’s also a lot like boarding the ride vehicles in Avatar: Flight of Passage in Animal Kingdom.
The process for boarding the vehicles is detailed below.
Once we boarded, we noticed that there was a bit of wiggle room (about 5ish inches) on the ride vehicle. With the back of the vehicle supporting you, you kind of have the option to fully lean forward or not.
We were able to wear a fanny pack around our waist, but wearing it crossbody (so around our shoulder) was not allowed. The storage compartment was large enough to fit small items like glasses, phones, keys, or other small yet important belongings.
Now what about the ride itself???
