BREAKING NEWS: Disney World Reveals Exciting Details About Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
With Splash Mountain officially closed, plans to re-imagine this beloved Frontierland attraction are underway. For those following along you’ll know that Song of the South will no longer be the theme for this flume ride. Instead, Splash Mountain will be redeveloped as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure weaving in elements from Princess and the Frog.
Earlier this week, we shared images of the construction walls that have gone up around Splash Mountain along with signs for “Tiana’s Foods.”
For those wondering what the Tiana’s Foods signs are in reference to, we now have an answer. Disney took to social media this evening to reveal some additional exciting details about the backstory for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

If you’ve seen the Princess and the Frog, you’ll know that Tiana has a love of cooking and big dreams of starting her own business. Tiana’s culinary pursuits will be woven into the Bayou Adventure storyline. Guests will be able to see where Tiana’s life has taken her after the events of the film including the success of her newly opened Tiana’s Palace restaurant.
Imagineers are currently hard at work on a new original storyline for Tiana. As guests queue through the ride, you’ll discover that Tiana continues to grow her businesses including with Tiana’s Foods- an employee-owned cooperative. This is the perfect business for Tiana as it allows her to use her talents to help the local community.
With this in mind, Tiana has transformed an aging salt mine.
According to the backstory, Tiana purchased the salt mine and surrounding area. With a bit of teamwork from familiar characters including Tiana’s Mom Eudora, Prince Naveen and Louis they are able to revive the salt mine and surrounding area to grow vegetables, herbs and spices for the co-op and Tiana’s Palace.
Tiana and Co breathe new life into the aging salt mine which includes a boutique farm and a working and teaching kitchen. At Tiana’s Foods, new products are created including her line of original hot sauces.
To celebrate her restaurant and the creation of Tiana Foods she decides to throw the community a massive Mardi Gras celebration! But, when there’s a mix up with the party preparations, we’re invited to Tiana’s Foods to help locate the missing ingredients for the soiree.
Once at the salt mines, guests will be able to check out the new Tiana’s Food facility which is a bustle of activity! Beignets are being prepared for the party and its time to journey through the bayou with Tiana and her friends to make sure everything is in order for the celebration.
Though the story picks up where Princess and the Frog left off, the message of the film remain true. You’ll see through the course of the ride that Tiana continues to bring people together and through her work with the Co-op teaches gardening and cooking to the community.
We expect more details about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to be released in the weeks and months ahead. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with us for further updates.
