This Day in Disney History- January 29
Welcome back to our magical foray through the history of the Walt Disney company! Today, we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- January 29.
January 29th, featured the debut of a new Donald Duck cartoon, the premiere of Disney animated classic, and the end of another run for Disneyland’s original fireworks. So, let’s get going!

Tire Trouble Released (1943)
On this day in 1943, the Donald Duck cartoon Donald’s Tire Trouble was released.

Directed by Dick Lundy, the short featured Donald foiled by a flat tire.
Sleeping Beauty Premieres (1959)
On this day in 1959, Sleeping Beauty premiered at the Fox Wilshire Theater in Los Angeles.

Disney’s 16th animated feature film, the story was based on the Charles Perrault fairy tale of the same name.
In the film, Princesses Aurora is cursed by the evil Maleficent, but is saved by the three good fairies. The trio alter her curse so that instead of dying, she falls into a deep sleep.
Snow White Visits New York City (1987)
On this day in 1987, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs visited the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.

The Disney characters visited New York to celebrate Disney’s highest-ever first quarter revenue results.
Smarter Planet Reopens (2010)
On this day in 2010, Epcot’s redesigned IBM exhibit “Smarter Planet” reopened.

The exhibit was located in the Innoventions West pavilion and gave guests a glimpse of the new “green” IBM data center.
Disney Dream Visits Castaway Cay (2011)
On this day in 2011, the Disney Dream visited Castaway Cay for the first time.

The stop was a part of the ship’s four-night maiden voyage. It would return to Florida the following day.
Fantasy in the Sky Ends (2017)
Finally, on this day in 2017, Fantasy in the Sky was performed for the final time at Disneyland during its return run.

Disneyland’s original firework show had been running since September 9, 2016. It would eventually return to the park in 2019 for another limited run.
