5 Minute Wait Time at Disneyland’s Splash Mountain as Ride Closes in Disney World
Fans lined up in droves to get one last chance to experience Florida’s original version of an iconic attraction this weekend. Comparatively, over on the west coast, Disneyland’s Splash Mountain is currently boasting a 5-minute wait time!
Disneyland’s Splash Mountain
Splash Mountain was first introduced at Disneyland Resort on July 17, 1989, 34 years after the Park’s opening day. Premiering in Critter Country, locals know it as one of the farthest rides to get to in Disneyland!
Interestingly, the attraction is pretty unpredictable when it comes to lines. The queue is rather long, officially starting all the way back near The Haunted Mansion. When I was a Passholder, lines could be backed up all the way to this spot.
But, there are also many times, especially in recent years, when you can catch extremely short lines for this ride. Time of day is undoubtedly a factor, as Guests would rather not get wet at the beginning or end of their trip when it’s more chilly.
5 Minute Wait Time
Since it’s undeniable that passengers will get wet to some extent, it’s not the most comfortable way to spend the day! Currently, Disneyland’s Splash Mountain is experiencing a 5-minute wait time!
Disney World’s Splash Mountain
Although this in and of itself is not a rare occurrence, it’s an interesting comparison to the lines we saw at Disney World yesterday! At one point, Florida’s attraction had a five-hour wait time, as Guests flocked to experience their last chance on board.
Ride Closure at Disney World
Today, the ride officially closed at Disney World. MickeyBlog just shared that signage has already been removed from the area. Although it’s sad to see its original remnants disappear, it’s comforting to know the foundation will remain the same.
Changes will be focused on reimagining the attraction from its controversial Song of the South inspiration to a The Princess and the Frog theme. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be premiere in Disneyland and Disney World Resorts in late 2024.
Disneyland hasn’t released the ride’s official closing date yet, but Guests will most likely follow suit with Disney World in forming large lines before it shuts down. MickeyBlog will continue to keep you posted on all things Splash Mountain as Disney prepares for some substantial changes!
