PHOTOS: Hurricane Ian Damage Across WDW Resort
The Walt Disney World Resort remains closed today as the outer bands of Hurricane Ian have finally vacated the Central Florida area. We took a drive through the Walt Disney Property today to assess the damage left behind. Scroll down to see photos of the storm’s damage from Thursday, September 29th 2022.
Though WDW Resort maintained power throughout the storm, several downed signs- both traffic signs and Disney’s iconic purple signs- were spotted across the Resort.
The fence surrounding the DVC construction at the Polynesian (formerly the Spirit of Aloha dinner show) has come down in spots.
The construction site has been active in recent months as ground has broken on a new DVC tower.

Large trees that had succumb to the 70+ MPH wind gusts have been cleared off the road still remain in grassy areas until crews come in to clear them.
The roads were so deserted that we were reminded of 2020, when Property was completely closed for 4 months.

While the Magic Kingdom parking lights were all showing green, no cars were entering the lot as the Magic Kingdom remains closed.
Overall, Walt Disney World Property doesn’t appear to have sustained any long-term, irreparable damage from Hurricane Ian. When the Parks reopen (hopefully tomorrow), we should have an even better sense of potential storm damage across the Resort. Stay tuned, and safe out there!
