On this day in 1971, Disney’s Contemporary and Polynesian Villiage Resorts were dedicated.
Bob Hope led the festivities at the Contemporary, while a special luau took place at the Polynesian.
Walt Disney World’s Electrical Water Pagent Debuts (1971)
Also on this day in 1971, Walt Disney World’s Electrical Water Pagent was performed for the first time.
The nighttime procession in the Seven Seas Lagoon continues to be performed today!
EPCOT Center Dedicated (1982)
On this day in 1982, EPCOT Center was officially dedicated.

Gargoyles Premieres (1994)
On this day in 1994, Gargoyles premiered as part of the Disney Afternoon.

Brother Bear Premieres (2003)
On this day in 2003, Brother Bear premiered at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood.

On this day in 2008, Pixie Hollow opened in the Magic Kingdom’s Toontown Fair.

High School Musical 3: Senior Year Released (2008)
On this day in 2008, High School Musical 3: Senior Year was released.

The third installment of the High School Musical franchise, the film was the first to be released in theaters.
Lucille Martin Passes Away at 90
On this day in 2012, Disney Legend Lucille Martin passed away at age 90.

Martin began her career as a personal secretary to Walt Disney before rising through the ranks and serving as vice president and special assistant to The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors.
Disney’s Plans to Remove Sorcerer’s Hat Revealed
Finally, on this day in 2004, it was reported that Disney would be removing the Sorcerer Hat from Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2015.
