Marvel Is Reportedly Getting to Work on an X-Men Film
Now that a deal has been finalized, and the writers’ strike is over, Hollywood is getting back to business.
According to insiders, Marvel Studios is ready to ramp up production again and is looking for the scribe who will bring some of the franchise’s most iconic characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) — the X-Men.
While the first X-Men MCU film hasn’t been announced, Marvel will likely be looking to find their screenwriter by early 2024.
Here Come the X-Men
When Disney purchased 20th Century Fox in 2019, insiders believed that acquiring the rights to the X-Men was a major part of the deal. Prior to the advent of the MCU, the X-Men were far and away the most successful Marvel franchise at the box office.
Since the deal was finalized, fans have been clamoring for the X-Men’s introduction into the MCU. Now it appears that the wheels are finally in motion.
The MCU has seemingly begun to lay the foundation for the introduction of the X-Men. First came the revelation that Ms. Marvel was a mutant herself. Similarly, Wolverine was referenced in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
The First X-Man in the MCU?
While it may be some time before an X-Men movie hits theaters, fans won’t have to wait too long to see one fan-favorite mutant in action.
Hugh Jackman is set to reprise his role as Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool 3. Interestingly, the film will be the first Deadpool installment produced by Marvel Studios.
With that being said, if and how Deadpool and his gang are folded into the MCU remains to be seen.
Deadpool 3 will hit theaters on May 3, 2024.
