Disney Skyliner Buckets Return to the Sky Post-Ian
Hurricane Ian’s impacts on the Orlando area continue to come to light today, but one sign of normalcy returned to the Walt Disney World skies just a few moments ago: The Disney Skyliner.
Thanks to Jennifer Turner, a fantastic MickeyTravels professional, we got an exciting first glimpse at testing going on tonight.
Though the lagoon does appear quite high, the Skyliner buckets still have plenty of clearance. Turner shared these images as she watched the first runs of tests go by at the station between Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
Luckily for us, Turner even shared video of the gondolas arriving at the station. Due to the incredible amount of rain dropped on the Orlando area over the last 24 hours, there appears to be a bit more excitement than the usual landing.
Prior to feeding the array of gondola buckets back onto the cables this afternoon, Skyliner cast members tested the lines themselves sans-enclosures as well.
Skyliner Readies for Park Re-Openings Tomorrow
Though we do not know of a timeline yet, Disney Parks did announce earlier today the theme parks will reopen tomorrow in a “phased approach.”
Today though, Guests spent time sheltering-in-place at their resorts. At many locations, characters popped in to spend a little quality time with those who rode out the storm.
Stay tuned to MickeyBlog for the latest on which parks will be open tomorrow and during what hours. At least for guests staying on the Disney Skyliner, quick access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios appears to be on the horizon.
