We’re A Step Closer to Finding Out The Opening Date for Moana-Inspired “Journey of Water” at Epcot!
Going in to the D23 Expo this year, one of the main upcoming attractions we were hoping to hear about was the Journey of Water experience at Epcot in Walt Disney World. Inspired by the movie Moana, this walk-through attraction was originally announced back in 2019, yet with the COVID-19 pandemic delaying progress considerably.
Since the parks have re-opened, we have seen enough teasers and sneak-peeks of the construction to get us thoroughly excited for the area’s opening. We can even see the progress from the monorail station at Epcot on our park visits!
So, naturally, when our MickeyBloggers walked into the Parks, Experiences, and Products panel today, we were hoping to finally hear a date be named.
Unfortunately, that didn’t quite happen. Although Chairperson Josh D’Amaro spoke about the Journey of Water attraction and assured us that progress was moving along nicely, an official date is still awaited.
However, we did get a better idea of timeframe, as an opening season of “late 2023” was confirmed.
So, we’ve still got at least a year to be waiting, but it’s a clearer idea than what we had earlier today!
As a huge Moana fan myself, I’m beyond excited for this all-new attraction area to debut at Epcot, and will be eagerly awaiting more news on the expansion as that late 2023 timescale draws nearer.
But, did you hear that this Journey of Water announcement wasn’t the only big parks news surrounding Moana to come out of the expo this morning? Stay tuned to MickeyBlog.com, where we’ll be sharing all the juicy details!
