Construction Work Continues at Future Site of Moana Journey of Water
MickeyBlog has been spending the last few days at EPCOT where we took some time away from all of the Cosmic Rewind excitement to see how work is going over at the Journey of Water construction site.
As you can see, the foundations are currently being laid at this exciting new area in EPCOT.
This footage was taken on the EPCOT monorail.
Journey of Water will be the first Disney Park experience inspired by the beloved film Moana.
Though much of the project remains under wraps, we do know that the Journey of Water will invite guests to meet and play with magical, living water.
Disney Imagineers have previously revealed that just as the water in Moana is its own character, the Journey of Water will come to life in a way that makes learning about the natural water cycle fun.
A few weeks ago, this area of little more than a demolition area.
However, now we can see elements being brought in for the new pavilion and attraction.
This takes up a huge area of the park and as you can see the site is currently behind a large construction wall.
Disney has yet to reveal an opening date for the attraction.
The development of the project did have a major setback due to the coronavirus shutdown.
We know that the Journey of Water will include a lush exploration trail.
We can’t wait to experience it first hand!
We will continue to keep following this project closely.
As soon as we hear more about a potential opening date for the attraction we’ll let you know.
However, we do expect that it will be a while before an official announcement is made.
The TRON coaster at Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom is even closer to completion but Disney is remaining tight-lipped regarding an opening date.
Here are a few more monorail images that shows the sheer scope of the former Innoventions
You can see where construction sits in comparison Spaceship Earth and the World Celebration neighborhood.
More update to come…
