A New Plaque Presented at EPCOT’s Cosmic Rewind
MickeyBlogger Jared meandered around EPCOT today, and he found a new plaque. Accordingly, this new plaque sits at the base of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. So, let’s find out what this plaque is all about and who presented the plaque!
The Message
Appropriately, the plaque first reads, “From Our World to Yours.” In case you did not know, the Wonders of Xandar Pavilion is EPCOT’s first interplanetary pavilion. Just as the other pavilions represent other countries of the world, this pavilion is out of this world…literally.
The message continues, “This Starblaster is presented as a gift from the Nova Corps to the people of Terra. May it, like EPCOT, serve to inspire peace through understanding.” Then, the plaque is signed off by Nova Prime Irani Rael.
Appropriately, the plaque also states that it was “Dedicated in the Terran Year 2022.” If you consider the meaning behind the plaque, it means quite a bit more than first expected. So, let’s discuss and explain the new plaque a bit further, shall we?
The Meaning
It’s no secret that Marvel characters, storylines, and settings can get somewhat confusing if you are unfamiliar with the plots. So, the Nova Corps is Marvel’s intergalactic military and police force, and it first appeared in Fantastic Four #205 in April of 1979.
Furthermore, the people of Terra refer to us…those who live on planet Earth. Marvel characters, including the Guardians, call Earth, Terra. Also, Nova Prime Irani Rael signs the plaque, this person is the commander of the Nova Corps. Finally, the Starblaster mentioned on the plaque refers to the aircraft vehicle stationed in front of the attraction.
A Great Reminder
More importantly, a new plaque found today in EPCOT promotes peace through understanding. This has been the goal and purpose of EPCOT, to accept and appreciate other cultures!
