“Near record heat these next few days? Yep! Here’s a preview,” said WESH’s Eric Burris in a recent tweet. The records set in the early 1960s and 1970s appear to be in sight starting today with the best chance appearing to be tomorrow. The timing could not be better for the thousands of people lining up in the chilly early morning hours for the Disney Princess Run Weekend 5k that steps off tomorrow.

In fact, those gathering this morning for Sunrise Yoga at Magic Kingdom also received a pleasant surprise. Upon their arrival, temperatures already offered more mild conditions than one would expect on a February morning. Mild 70s greeted guests at the theme park openings this morning as the weather continues to offer a ray of sunshine throughout the day toward those record highs.

Good luck to all of those running this weekend’s collection of races, which include the 5k, a 10k on Saturday morning, and the half marathon on Sunday. Those visiting Walt Disney World Resort will want to take note of important road closures specifically on Sunday as the half marathon course does take runners from EPCOT to Magic Kingdom on the local highways.
