The Beloved Cape May Seafood Buffet is BACK!
Who’s ready for some seafood!? Nearly two years after the last buffet crab leg was cracked, the long awaited seafood buffet has returned to Cape May Cafe!
MickeyBlog was there for the return of Cape May’s breakfast buffet this morning, but we just couldn’t miss the reboot of this fan favorite dinner. Join us as we take you through our first seafood buffet here since March 2020!
Tonight’s offering drew more of a crowd than this morning. Our MickeyBloggers Josh and Rosie joined other guests as they awaited the grand reopening of this beloved buffet!
As always, joyful cast members were ready to welcome us back!
On the menu tonight: an assortment of salads, classic seafood boil, a meat carving station, sustainable catch of the day, and so much more!
This is physically quite a large buffet, featured in the center of the dining room, with many offerings for all.
Let’s start with the showcase course, the seafood! Below you can see the seafood boil, clams, muscles and shrimp. Josh said they all taste fresh and delicious!
Other seafood options….fried pollock (think fish and chips),
fried shrimp and clam strips, seafood pasta salad, or traditional shrimp paella!
One thing notably missing from the buffet is snow crab legs. While they were definitely a crowd pleaser at seafood buffets past, crab legs are now only available for an additional charge of $29 per pound. Lobster can also be added to your meal for $42 per pound.
If seafood isn’t your bag, there’s plenty of other options for you! The meat carving station featured a seared roast beef with a chimichurri sauce or house-made onion jam.
There’s also roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, chicken wings, corn on the cob, and plenty of optional vegetables.
One MickeyBlogger thought the chicken was the real meat standout tonight!
Our blogger Rosie, a guest of the exclusively plant-eating variety, tried the plant-based tofu with mixed vegetables, stir fry-style. According to Rosie, this is one of the best plant-based options on Disney property!
Other offerings here for plant eaters included seasoned vegetables and the pasta of the day. Note that while today’s pasta happened to be a vegetarian friendly cavatappi with veggies, this dish is subject to change each day.
If you have tastes more common of younger guests, have no fear, the cheese pizza is here! Along with the plain pasta (with red or white sauces) and house made cornbread and dinner rolls, yum!
On the other side of the buffet we found a nice fresh assortment of fruits and veggies. There were several yummy salad options as well as a fruit and yogurt parfait-style salad. Fruit chunks and olives were also available here.
It might come as a surprise that the Cape May Cafe seafood buffet isn’t just known for the seafood, but the plethora of amazing desserts! There were 8 dessert options plus cookies available this evening!
Options included these pretty 50th Anniversary Boston Cream Tarts and Signature Oreo Bon-Bons.
Decadent lemon curd cups and pretty strawberry layer cakes with chocolate “cigars” on top.
Classic vanilla cupcakes and various cookies. This place is a sweet tooth’s dream!
Disney also served a gluten free chocolate cake option, separately from the other desserts.
The pièce de résistance, the bread pudding, featured a vanilla cream sauce for drizzling and this was a big hit with our MickeyBloggers!
Cape May is located at Disney’s Beach Club Resort in the Boardwalk area, right behind Epcot. You can access the resort easily from Disney’s Skyliner or the Friendship boats in the Boardwalk area, or simply walk on over from Epcot!
