Betty White’s Agent Denies Cause of Death Rumors
After her suprising passing on New Years Eve, rumors began to swirl about the cause of death of beloved “Golden Girls” actress Betty White. Yesterday, however, her longtime agent Jeff Witjas fought back against the inaccurate claims regarding White’s death, which sadly took place just a a few weeks before her 100th birthday.

“Betty died peacefully in her sleep at her home,” said Witjas in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. ““People are saying her death was related to getting a booster shot three days earlier, but that is not true. … She died of natural causes. Her death should not be politicized — that is not the life she lived.”

The Los Angeles Police Department also verified that the actress dided of “natural” causes “with no evidence of foul play,” in a statement published by Us Weekly. The LAPD initially responded to a call to White’s home in the morning of New Year’s Eve.
Betty White was 99 years old when she passed with her important milestone birthday approaching on January 17th, just into the new year. Following her death, Witjas along with hundreds of Hollywood stars posted tributes for the hilarious icon, including her “The Proposal” co-star Ryan Reynolds.
The world looks different now. She was great at defying expectation. She managed to grow very old and somehow, not old enough. We’ll miss you, Betty. Now you know the secret. pic.twitter.com/uevwerjobS

The feature story in this week’s People magazine, Betty White recently shared some of her secrets for such a long-life, suggesting people make sure to “taste every moment.” Famously a fan of hot dogs and a vodka on ice, White also jokingly suggested people “avoid anything green” in the interview.
My 100th birthday… I cannot believe it is coming up, and People Magazine is celebrating with me! The new issue of @people is available on newsstands nationwide tomorrow. https://t.co/kTQnsbMDGK

To honor White’s legacy, Fathom Events still plans to show a new film documenting White’s historic achievements in television (and life) on the birthdate of the actress, January 17th. The film, titled “Betty White: 100 Years Young,” now serves as a touching tribute rather than a centenarian celebration as first planned.
