A Major Leak Flooded Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Last Night
A major leak flooded through Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort last night, effecting operations and guest experience.
At around 10pm on January 3rd, a bust pipe in the deluxe Magic Kingdom-area resort lead to quite a serious leak situation.
Flooding the floors of the hotel created a rather unattractive welcome for guests returning to their rooms after a busy day in the parks.
The leak was triggered on the second floor of the resort, yet flooded right down to the first floor. As we can see from these photos, taken by MickeyBlogger Sarah Grose, everything ended up rather soggy!
To try to curb the flooding and prevent guests from unwittingly slipping in the water, Cast Members moved furniture around to create diversions.
It’s not the most attractive look for the otherwise stunning resort hotel, but needs must during an emergency!
Huge cages of towels were wheeled over to help mop up the floodwater, which you can clearly see glistening on the paved flooring of the hotel lobby.
It looks like a bit of an obstacle course was created with all those towels and moved items of furniture!
At least, as always, the hazard signage perfectly reflected Disney’s charm, with this sign politely asking guests to “please pardon [the] appearance”!
As well as affecting the guests staying at the Polynesian resort last night, the flood also impacted those visiting the resort for a spot of dinner.
Guests dining at the resort’s ever-popular table service restaurant Ohana were politely asked not to exit through the main lobby, and were instead directed to leave through a back door stairwell.
It may not have been the most magical of situations for guests to be faced with, but safety always comes first at Disney!
If you have been following updates on MickeyBlog, you will know that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has recently undergone a large-scale refurbishment process.
Of course, we can’t comment on the cause of the leak – which has not been disclosed to guests.
We sincerely hope the effects of the flood won’t have too much of an impact on the gorgeous resort and the incredible work that has been put into it.
If you are planning on visiting Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort this morning, there may be some slight disruption, but we are certain that Cast Members have worked hard to secure the area for guests.
Stay safe out there!
