BREAKING NEWS: Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind To Open Summer 2022
We’ve got some incredible news to share with you! During a presentation at the D23 even this morning, Disney Chairman Josh D’Amaro made the official announcement that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be officially opening at EPCOT in the Summer of 2022.
And seeing as the Guardians of the Galaxy are known for being a bit over the top, the official announcement is perfectly in keeping with this tradition. Check this out:

That’s right…it’s none other than Nova Prime (played by Glenn Close) to share this exciting announcement with us!
Over the past few months we’ve been sharing a TON of construction images but today we can go inside with a few more artists renderings that were released in celebration of the big news.
Here you can see the queuing area of the attraction where there are a wide array of pretty awesome Guardians-related items!
From everything we’ve seen, it looks like this new family-friendly coaster will also match the grandiosity of the films themselves.
Josh D’Amaro told us that it will also have the distinction of being one of the longest fully enclosed coasters in the world!
The coaster will be in EPCOT’s newly renamed World of Discovery neighborhood. It will also have the first “other-world” showcase pavilion at EPCOT. The backstory goes that Xandarians have traveled from their world to the Andromeda galaxy and more specifically to Earth (or Terra as they call it) to build this new Pavilion so that guests can learn about the people and advanced technologies found on the planet.
And then the Guardians arrive and the adventures ensue…
In addition to the awesome announcement Nova Prime made this morning, we are pleased to confirm that she will also make an appearance at the actual Wonders of Xander exhibition at EPCOT.
Did you know that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic really also has a lot of Disney “firsts”? This includes:
- The first coaster attraction at EPCOT.
- The first reverse launch for a Disney coaster.
- The first Walt Disney World attraction to feature the Guardians of the Galaxy.
We’ve also got a few awesome fun facts to share with you!
- By volume, four Spaceship Earths would fit inside the attraction’s massive new show building.
- Disney Imagineers were recently on-set for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” to film with the Guardians for this new attraction.
- A Starblaster will stand outside the Wonders of Xandar building, the first full-size version of this Xandarian ship ever built.
Though Disney has yet to announce an official opening date for the attraction we definitely know that it’s coming next summer! So let the countdown begin. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with us for the latest Guardians news and updates!
