REVIEW: Snickers Bakery Treats at The Confectionary!
The Main Street Confectionary recently re-opened, and things are looking a whole lot sweeter on their new bakery menu! Mars took over sponsorship for the Confectionary last month, and ever since we’ve not only seen a full refurbishment of the interior, the addition of a popcorn station, and giant M&M’s wall…but the addition of Mars to nearly every bakery item.
Depending on the treat, that can be a not-so-good thing, but I am a Snickers fan through and through and was thrilled when I learned that my favorite candy could now be enjoyed in multiple forms!
Snickers Chocolate Cupcake
I opted for two Snickers-inspired treats from the Confectionary. Hey, I had to REALLY make sure they passed the flavor tests for you! I started off my chocolate-y evening with the Confectionary’s chocolate cupcake.
This cupcake is, of course, not your ordinary chocolate cupcake! A chocolate buttercream AND chocolate mousse sit atop a chocolate cake base. The whole thing is then covered in a crispy, peanut-y coating and topped with a glob of caramel.
The cake itself was very fresh and had a super chocolate-y flavor. I don’t think that the cupcake needed both the mousse and chocolate buttercream as a frosted topping (I prefer plain cake over frosted any day), but my tasting partner thought the cake portion was dry without both, so take that as you will.
Overall this cupcake was really good, but pretty basic. If I didn’t know it included the Snickers flavors, I don’t think I would have guessed what it was going for. That being said, it was really fresh, had a fantastic chocolate flavor, and is a great, VERY sharable pre-fireworks dessert that will absolutely quell any chocolate cravings.
Snickers Chocolate Chunk Cookie
You can’t go wrong with a classic chocolate chunk cookie. Add in entire peanuts, dip half of it in rich milk chocolate, and then roll it in Snickers pieces and you’ve got the most decadent chocolate chunk cookies the Magic Kingdom has to offer.
The cookie itself was very fresh and I was pleasantly surprised that the chocolate/Snickers coating didn’t make it too sweet like I feared, but actually gave this cookie layers and layers of flavor as you ate it!
The cookie was so buttery and soft that it practically melted in my mouth, and that gave way to whole peanuts that are perfectly baked INTO the cookie batter which gives a soft, chewy cookie a fantastic and unexpected crunch.
Pair that crunch with the perfectly dipped milk chocolate side of the cookie and you’ve got a very unique yet somehow familiar-feeling bite of chocolate and Snickers goodness only the Main Street Confectionary could bake up.
