Live Action “Aladdin” Star Says Sequel Is Being Worked On
Make way for Prince Ali… again!
It’s good news for fans of Aladdin, as it sounds like the promised sequel to the 2019 live-action movie is still set to happen.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, actor Mena Massoud shared an update on what he knows about the production’s progress:
They’re working on it. They’re trying to make it happen. That’s really all I know. As you know, usually actors are the last piece of the puzzle, so the studio has got a lot to worry about before they start thinking about the actors. Obviously, I would hope that all of us come back and Naomi, Will and I all come back and the rest of the cast, Marwan, Navid, Nasim, everybody. But right now, as far as I know, they’re just working on the script and trying to make it happen.
Some may say that Massoud hasn’t given us much information to go off at all here, but we’re excited to hear the star talk about even the concept of Aladdin 2.
Production development is very clearly in the early stages, but there’s definitely work going on.
And, we’re delighted to hear that Mena Massoud is keen to return to Agrabah, and hope that Naomi Scott (Princess Jasmine) and Will Smith (Genie) are there to join him!
It has already been confirmed that Guy Ritchie will once again take the director’s seat, so we can’t wait to see what magic ensues.

The big question that remains to be answered, is what tale will the sequel tell? MickeyBlog looked at some possible options early last year, but nothing has been confirmed, or even hinted at, so far.
If Massoud is right, and the script is still being worked on, it could be a while until we find out!
So, let’s not be too hasty, as there may be quite a wait yet until Aladdin 2 hits our screens.
