Magic Kingdom Set Aglow in Brilliant “Enchantment”
Starlight beams, magnificent pyrotechnics, and vibrant lighting that illuminate Cinderella Castle before magically winding their way down Main Street U.S.A. define the magnificent new show, “Disney Enchantment.” The new nighttime spectacular premiered in a private event this evening to celebrate “The World’s Most Magical Celebration.”
With trumpets sounding, “Disney Enchantment” begins triumphantly before quieting into its new theme, “You Are the Magic.” Marvel legend Angela Bassett narrates the inspiring journey.
After welcoming guests, the “Black Panther” Queen reminds people of the enchantment of Magic Kingdom, a place “overflowing with the magic of dreams come true. Those who venture here filled with hope in search of this magic leave here inspired by what they discover … so long as you simply believe.”
Huge booms fill the skies over the whimsical theme park throughout the show with other brightly colored bursts framing Cinderella Castle. Tons of gold and EARidescent shades of purples and blues dazzle throughout the show’s beginnings.
The opening song invites guests to wish upon a star as the fireworks resemble the same sentiment. The colors also appear throughout the Walt Disney World Resort in honor of its 50th anniversary celebration, which officially begins tomorrow.
“Disney Enchantment” features a new inspiring ballad, “You Are the Magic,” by former cast member and Grammy Award-winner Philip Lawrence. The extravaganza also debuts a number of new pyrotechnic technologies. The projections bring popular films to life, starting with “The Princess and the Frog.”
New shapes soar high above the castle, and plumming fountains of bright red and white fireworks eminate from the foreground. Truly, the show’s booms are absolutely breathtaking. Moana, Raya, Judy Hopps, and even Joe Gardner make an appearance early on.
The narrative’s optimistic beginnings introduce quintessential Disney themes. Ideas including the importance of friendship, true love, and the power of courage take center stage. “Be Our Guest” celebrates a slew of Disney parties, including Alice’s tea party.
Characters from “Coco,” “Wreck-It Ralph,” “Cars,” “Hercules,” “Finding Nemo,” and “The Little Mermaid” also feature in the celebratory portion of the show.
In fact, the party even winds its way down Main Street as Cinderella’s mice dash across buildings and the sea cascades across during Sebastian’s “Under the Sea.” Shortly after, two huge lone fireworks shoot up in columns through the sky, marking a change in tone.
Elsa’s powerful “Into the Unknown” delivers some of the most awe-inspiring images on the castle as well as done Main Street U.S.A.
Later, “Enchantment” takes a turn to a darker side. More intense moments from a series of films dominate Cinderella Castle momentarily during “Night on Bald Mountain” by Modest Mussorgsky, which featured in the original film, “Fantasia.”
The penultimate scene of the show, focused on family, paints the skies in blue-green hues with Moana’s “How Far I’ll Go” segueing the show into its finale.
Lawrence along with singer Kayla Alvarez belt out their new power anthem, bringing the show to its dramatic, fireworks-filled conclusion. Of course, a certian fairy also flies through the sky.
“If you believe today, then it’s possible tomorrow … Doesn’t matter where you are because the spark is in your heart. Wherever you go, you have it in you because you are the magic,” the song joyfully proclaims.
“Disney Enchantment” certainly will remind guests of the magic within and the possibility that the Magic Kingdom inspires each night for many years to come.
