PHOTOS: Orlando Airport Gets a Magical Disney World 50th Anniversary Makeover
Orlando International Airport (MCO) was recently given a big dollop of pixie dust if these photos are anything to go by!
As you can see, the walls at the tram station within the airport now sport fun and festive Disney murals.
All of our awesome friends are represented here including Figment!
Cinderella Castle takes center stage in these images and the background features a magical wave of Disney magic.
If you look closely you’ll see many important Disney World images included in the design. We spotted the Orange Bird, Tree of Life and so much more!
Best of all, the elements feature a shimmery metallic finish to capture the beauty of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Earidescent colorway.
50th Anniversary banners were also incorporated into the print. These match the ones that guests can currently find at the theme parks and resorts.
The character images pay tribute to the Fab 50 statues that have been unveiled over the last few months and are now on display at all four theme parks.
Above you can see Mickey’s canine companion Pluto getting ready to party!
Here is Joe Gardner from the latest Pixar film Soul tickling the ivories!
And below you can see Daisy giving us an elegant pose!
Be on the lookout for the Daisy and Donald Fab 50 golden statues In the HUB in front of Cinderella Castle during your Magic Kingdom visit.
We love the idea of decorating the airport.
It makes guests excited to experience the magic before they’ve even arrived at their destination!
We also found another display featuring additional friends.
This includes Pumbaa, Timon, Bambi Thumper and Donald!
No grumpiness today! Donald is looking might chipper about Disney World’s special birthday!
You can find the Fab 50 Bambi and Thumper statue at Animal Kingdom. They make a great photo op with the Tree of Life as their backdrop!
One of the cool things you’ll notice from an up close view of the posters is that next to each Fab 50 statues is a description which tells you a bit about the importance of each character.
You can read the description for Orange Bird above.
The mural continues with images of Chip, Dale, Hei Hei and Pua.
There’s also Boo Peep who’s statue you’ll find at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Let’s not forget Simba who you will also find in Animal Kingdom on Discovery Island!
Olaf has a statue at EPCOT! See if you can find him during your visit!
You’ll also definitely want to check out the statues for Mickey and Minnie. In between them, at Magic Kingdom you’ll find a plaque that was recently unveiled paying tribute to all of the cast members that have keep Walt’s vision alive over the past 50 years. It is an emotional tribute worth photographing.
Above you can see The Incredibles represented with this statue of Frozone which you’ll find at Hollywood Studios. On the other side of the castle is Miguel who is joined by his dog Dante at EPCOT!
What a fabulous looking crew!
R2-D2 also has his own statue along with BB-8. Be on the lookout for both of them at Disney’s Hollywood Studios- home of Galaxy’s Edge!
And last, but certainly not least, are Nemo and Dory.
You’ll be flipping your fins over this pair when you see their statues at Animal Kingdom!
There’s a HUGE celebration happening at Disney World this fall. Be sure to have those cameras out the minute you land at the airport. You never know what you might find!
We absolutely love MCO’s 50th Anniversary makeover particularly the fact that it ties in with the Fab 50 statues you can find at the parks. These are currently on display NOW!
