Meet Greta, Animal Kingdom’s Newest Hippo Calf
Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World has a new, cute, and playful hippo calf. MickeyBlog wants you to meet Greta who was born on July 12, 2021.
Dr. Mark Pennington from Disney’s Animal Kingdom announced her arrival through a post on Instagram. Additionally, he noted that Greta loves to do barrel rolls as she explores through the water.
At first, Greta was very shy, especially with the Cast Members at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. However, she has come out of her shell and is very playful with everyone.
Now, she is trying to meet some of her family members around Kilimanjaro Safaris. She has several to become close with as a matter of fact.
Greta’s Family Tree
In fact, Greta and her brother, Hans, have a famous fairytale namesake. Their names give recognition to “Hansel and Gretel” by the Brothers Grimm.
Also, she has another brother named Augustus, and her mom’s name is Tuma. Therefore, they enjoy their time together in Walt Disney World’s Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
On Kilimanjaro Safaris, Guests board an open-air vehicle and tour an African savanna. Here, you explore the Harambe Wildlife Reserve and view 34 animal species throughout 110 acres of open plains.
You can find baby Greta and the rest of the hippo bloat as you take a ride on Kilimanjaro Safaris. Indeed, it is a magical tour full of wonder, just be sure to wave as you meet Greta!
