BREAKING: Voices of Liberty Make Incredible Rotunda Return
After 665 days away from the American Adventure Pavillion Rotunda, the vocally amazing Voices of Liberty finally returned to their acoustic dream of a performance space today. Of course, MickeyBlog headed over to the Georgian-inspired hall today to witness the choral splendor first hand at EPCOT.
Thought to be acoustically perfect, the American Adventure Rotunda’s design includes a domed ceiling that soars into architectural grandeur. With their performance today, Voices of Liberty definitely proved that the Rotunda offers a truly flawless space for the remarkable vocalists.
The skillful a capella singers know just how to use the dome’s architecture to amplify their natural talents. With sheer delight in their faces, the cast members proved that their exquisite performance also stems from a wonderful balance and respect for each others’ musical abilities.
Dressed in their new ensembles of bold reds and blues, the pure talent of the Voices of LIberty performers soared throughout the room. With harmonies perfectly colliding, the collection of voices again sang updated traditional American tunes and mash-ups of patriotic songs for guests, including a version of “Shenandoah” that included an enchanting round.
In a new addition to the Rotunda show sequence, Voices of Liberty also sang a collection of songs from an animated Disney film, “The Princess and the Frog.” The moment especially highlighted the enormous range of voices in the group and allowed for a rare moment of crowd clap-along participation as well. The epic slide up multiple octaves at the end of “Dig a Little Deeper” drew huge, much-deserved applause.
In a special surprise, the pavillion’s classic Christmas decorations remained carefully hung around the circle as well.
Of course, the group received a multi-minute standing ovation at the end of their spectacular first performance back.
Prior to today, the group performed at the America Gardens Theatre, delighting guests there with selections from the American songbook. Dressed in the same modern ensembles, the outdoor performances over the last 16 months offered a way for both Voices of Liberty and Mariachi Cobre to continue entertaining EPCOT guests during the pandemic.
Visiting the Rotunda
For the best Voices of Liberty listening experience, try to position yourself as close to the Rotunda circle as possible. The 15-minute performance definitely takes on a new level of musical greatness within the circle as opposed to under the walkways above.
Of course, popping into the American Adventure Pavillion just as the group starts also offers a stellar treat for those wandering World Showcase today, whether within the circle or not.
