Boarding Groups Were Not Required to Ride Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Yesterday, August 15, 2021 was a historical day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Walt Disney World. For the first time ever, Guests were able to access the popular ride without one of those coveted boarding groups!
What caused boarding groups to be suspended yesterday for Rise of the Resistance? Lack of demand and low crowds at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Like always, the first opportunity to access the virtual queue and obtain a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance opened to Guests at 7 am yesterday morning. At this time, the boarding groups soon filled up.

However, when the virtual queue opened for the second time at 1 pm, there were still boarding groups available later in the afternoon. Even as later at 6:37 pm.
It’s 6:37 p.m. and you can still get a Rise of the Resistance boarding group at DHS.

At 7pm, Rise of the Resistance boarding group distribution ended and Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios were able to queue up for the attraction even if they were never able to get a boarding group.

At 8:30 pm, the Park was so empty, Guests were able to just walk right on it! Crazy!
another update – after 7pm, guests WITHOUT BOARDING GROUPS were allowed to ride. As of 830pm, Rise was a walk on.

It’s important to note that it’s pretty rare for something like this to happen. In first, it’s the first time ever it has occurred at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Crowds should be picking up at the parks in the coming weeks with Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations about ready to kick off on October 1, 2021.
