Refurbishments Coming to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa?
During a usual day of Disney investigating I came across some exciting news! Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa may be getting some updates.
Recently, Disney announced the return of certain Club Level lounges beginning in September. I was ready to jump on this for a personal trip I have planned this coming winter.
However, upon booking, I could not find anything for my travel dates- not even a single night. I continued to check daily and play around with a few other dates. Today, I was given some valuable (and exciting) insight via a Cast Member as to why this is!
The word on the street is that the Grand Floridian’s Main Building will be undergoing refurbishments beginning February 2022 and running through May 2022. While there were no specifics given on what work would be performed, we can surely dream and make a few guesses!
Perhaps there will be some room refurbishments as we have seen at the other monorail resorts? As much as I adore the Grand Floridian, the guest rooms are certainly due for a facelift especially now that we have seen the rooms over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Monorail Resort Room Updates
The newly refurbished rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are inspired by Disney’s hit movie Moana. Long gone are the days of carpeted floors and an outdated 70’s vibe.

The new rooms provide a fresh, clean look while still transporting you to the islands of Polynesia. Little details throughout the room bring Moana to life in a tasteful way.

We have also gotten a sneak peek of the newly refurbished rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. These rooms have been inspired by our favorite superheroes- The Incredibles.
These rooms offer an updated Contemporary feel with “Incredible” touches throughout.
What Does This Mean for The Grand Floridian?
Again, nothing has been confirmed but it is hard to imagine the rooms not being updated after we have seen the amazing work done at both of these resorts. Another speculation… Disney just announced the return of the Royal Palm Club beginning September 16, 2021. If the Main Building will be closed (which houses the Royal Palm Club) perhaps we will see a return of the Sugar Loaf Club sooner rather than later?

As of now, Disney has only announced Club Level reopening at Grand Floridian, BoardWalk, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, and Coronado Springs with the latest reopening date of December 16th.
